Superintendent's Monthly Message - July 2016

Superintendent's Monthly Message for July, 2016

CJ logoMUSD Community,

I hope this message finds you preparing for the weekend and a wonderful celebration on July 4th!

It is my honor and privilege to serve as your new Superintendent! During my previous nine years as an administrator in Martinez Unified School District, I've been lucky to work alongside incredible teachers and support staff.  I am continually impressed with the support of our parent community, local businesses and service organizations.  In the coming months I look forward to getting settled into my new role and engaging our community of stakeholders in continuous discussions on our key focus, student success.

This monthly message will be sent at the beginning of each month via email and will also be posted on our Martinez Unified School District website.  My goal is to ensure our community remains informed of developments within our great district and can access the inspiring stories within our schools.  For additional updates and insight to Martinez Unified School District you can follow along via Twitter,@CJMUSD.

Since the close of the school year many teachers, including some of our newest hires, completed "Educational Boot Camps" put on by our Curriculum/Instructional Technology Department.  Additionally, teachers are attending training on other topics such as coding, math instruction, and supporting English Language Development (ELD) for students. Many classified staff members have been working through the summer to support our clerical, technology, and facility needs. The summer is never slow and the commitment of our staff to continued growth is inspiring.

Current construction projects include HVAC installation at John Swett and Las Juntas, continued construction of the new Vicente/Briones campus next to the District Office, foundational work for Building K at Alhambra, roofing at John Swett, and some painting at Alhambra and Las Juntas.  Many other projects will be completed this summer, and I look forward to sharing additional updates and photos with you in my August communication.

The work of educating our future, shaping the hearts and minds of students, and ensuring we make a positive difference in the life of every child is no easy task.  Thankfully, I have yet to meet anyone who chose the profession of education because they thought it would be easy! Together, through collaboration and open communication, all of us can keep this great district moving forward toward increased student success. I look forward to serving as the lead learner and facilitating the work of our team.
